The Civil War touched several branches of my family, with relatives serving in both Union and Confederate units. This page brings together the ancestors and close family members I have identified in military records, along with links to their individual stories, regimental histories, diaries, and related research. Their service ranged from brief wartime enlistments to longer campaigns, and in some cases left behind records that offer an unusually personal glimpse into their lives during the war.

Joseph David Hurt is my 3rd great uncle. His sister, Jane Bailey Hurt, is my great great grandmother. I was excited to see the documents that you have found for him and wondered how you are related to him. Do you have any information on Jane? I have a tree on Ancestry and will be happy to share any information that I have. I look forward to hearing from you. Teresa
