\nThose we see availing themselves of the benevolent custom of the country, based on the Mosaic Law, to \u2018leave to the poor the gleanings of the harvest,\u2019 are seen resting by the roadside after their labours. One is nursing her baby, the others are carrying their garnered ears. In the distance is the cornfield, with three figures in it, one of whom is reaping with a hand-sickle. The trees are showing their first autumn tints. <\/p>\n
