On the 14th of August we commenced to evacuate Harrison\u2019s Landing.  We marched to New Port News, a distance of eighty miles, in four days. We were started every morning at about 3 \u00bd o\u2019clock. We were at New Port News two days in which time I took three baths in Hampton Roads.  After staying two days we embarked on the Steamer Montr\u00e9al for Aquia Creek.  We arrived next day about 10 o\u2019clock and immediately landed and left for Fredericksburg on the cars.
