Franklin Parker Wells

Born July 18, 1836 in Wellsburg, Erie County, PA, Frank owned a business that made oars and boat hooks. He later invested in mining and oil companies. He died 12/14/1913 in Pasadena, Los Angeles County, CA. See photo at right and business card at left.

1870 – Frank P. Wells appears in the August 23, 1870, Erie County, Pennsylvania census for Albion Borough (Roll 1339, Book 1, page 165b). He is 34. Occupation is “Manufacturing Oars.” Wife Sarah M. is 31. He was born in PA and his wife was born in Maine. Value of his real estate is $5,000 and personal estate is $10,598. Two children are listed: Charles F., 2, and Andrew, 1. There is also a housekeeper, Jane Runyan.
1880 – Johnathan Wells with a son Frank. Both work in an oar factory. Johnathan would have been born in 1825. (PA, Erie, Albion, Roll 1127, Book 1, p98b)

Franklin P. Wells shows up in a 1910 New York census for Buffalo, 21st Ward. (Erie County, Roll 947, Book 1, page 212a). He is 73, married twice. Wife’s name is hard to read, but looks like Emma. She is 60 years old and this is her first marriage. They have been married ten years. Emma has no children, living or deceased. Frank was born in PA and both parents in Vermont. He has no occupation and rents his home.
