David Bogert

Samuel Bogert

Samuel Bogert was born on May 18, 1813, in Mount Bethel, PA. He married Elizabeth Ranton. He was a blacksmith in Luzerne County and a wheelwright. He was called a respected citizen, but in moderate circumstances. He died July 9, 1881in Wilkes Barre at the age of 68. Elizabeth died on August 3, 1888 in Wilkes Barre. The couple had eight children:
1. John born December 11, 1836, lived in Monroe County, Stroudsburg, died August 31, 1920.
2. Eliza Bogert born July 25, 1840 lived in Monroe County, Smithfield Township
3. Mary C. born February 13, 1843 lived in Smithfield Twonship, Monroe County
4. Joseph Kirkendall Bogert born July 6, 1845
5. Emmanuel born June 29, 1847
6. Jacob Wellington born February 29, 1848
7. Almira Alice born May 13, 1851 lived in New Columbus, Luzerne County
8. Edward Freas born September 27, 1856

Eliza Bogert

Eliza Bogert was born on July 25, 1840 in New Columbus, in Luzerne County, PA. She married Thomas McKeen Farquhar (view photo of Thomas) in 1871. She died February 12, c. 1918 in Jersey City Heights, NJ, at the age of 78, and is buried in Bethlehem. View Eliza's obituary.

Her brother, Joseph Kirkendall Bogert, fought in Civil War, assigned to duty in the campaign against hostile Indians in Midwest, graduated from Bucknell U., then was newspaperman and politician for the Democratic party.
