  • Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names Browser – Type in a name and see if the town is still in existence. Find out what county and township it is in.
  • Unified Census ED Finder – Obtaining the Census Enumeration District for an 1880 to 1940 Location in One Step. If you cannot find your ancestors in a census but you know where they lived, you can find their enumeration district with this easy tool. Then you can browse through the census records for that district.

  • Lehigh County Historical Society – Has a collection of local and regional history and extensive genealogy holdings. Has a wealth of resource material for the serious and casual historian and the genealogist: books, maps, newspapers, photographs, oral histories, church and social records, personal and family papers, business documents and numerous county records.
  • Lehigh Township Historical Society
  • The Moravian Historical Society, Nazareth, PA – The research collection includes extensive records on local genealogy, including over 200,000 Lehigh Valley obituaries, files and family charts, family history books, and cemetery records.
  • Palmerton Area Historical Society – The PAHS collection includes a variety of artifacts, books, documents, oral histories, photographs, and videos available for research.

    Register of Wills Office – has marriage licenses from October 1883 to present and birth and death certificates from 1893 to 1905 along with wills, intestants, guardianship papers and orphan’s court papers. The Prothonatories office has naturalization records and divorce records. The Recorder of Deeds office has deeds from grantors and grantees.

  • Monroe County Archives – for birth and death records prior to 1892, go to Northampton County Courthouse. For birth and death records from 1893 to 1905, go to Monroe County Courthouse. Marriage records are available from 1885 onward.
  • Monroe County Historical Association, 900 Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA.
  • The Pocono Record – this newspaper began publication in April 1894. The Record has an in-house library with microfilm. Obituaries are not indexed so the researcher must provide date of death.
